A complete in-frame kitchen commission — a room where furniture and architecture merge. Soft putty painted shaker cabinetry throughout the perimeter, a contrasting darker taupe island with white stone worktop and integrated gas hob, and a bespoke painted coffer above — LED-lit around its full perimeter, housing the extraction unit within — that defines the room from ceiling down. Every element, from the fold-open drinks and larder cabinet with warm oak interior to the bespoke oak-framed display niche set into the worktop run, was designed as one considered whole.
The island anchors the room in a darker taupe tone — a deliberate contrast to the softer putty of the perimeter cabinetry that prevents the scheme from reading as all one note. Above it, a bespoke painted coffer with moulded cornice detail and warm amber LED lighting running its full perimeter turns what might have been a functional extraction box into the room's most considered detail.
The kitchen opens onto the garden through bifold doors, natural light entering from two aspects. The rich dark oak herringbone parquet draws a warm line beneath everything, connecting the cooking space to the living space beyond without a threshold.
The fold-open drinks and larder cabinet is the private delight of this kitchen. Painted to match the perimeter cabinetry, it reads as a standard tall larder unit — until the doors open outward to reveal a warm oak interior, LED-lit shelving for glassware, a full spirits display below and an integrated wine fridge at base level.
It transforms a moment of reaching for a bottle into something closer to a ritual. The in-frame construction means the doors open with the satisfying solidity of a piece of fine furniture — not a kitchen cabinet.
Glass-fronted wall cabinets with warm oak backing and LED interior lighting sit above the worktop run — their warm glow tying back to the coffer above and the drinks cabinet beyond. Under-cabinet LED lighting runs the full length of the perimeter.
The gas hob is integrated into the island surface, its solid cast iron grates flush to the white stone worktop. A traditional Belfast sink sits at the window, plants on the sill, garden beyond. The kitchen works as hard as it looks — every practical requirement resolved within the same material palette.
