A beautifully considered bespoke home bar for a private residence in Worsley — where clean contemporary design meets the warmth of handcrafted joinery. This commission demonstrates that a home bar need not shout to impress; sometimes the most powerful statement is quiet confidence in every detail.
The brief called for a bar that felt contemporary and uncluttered — in keeping with the clean architectural language of the client's recently renovated home. Our designers conceived a scheme built around precision-routed handleless cabinetry in a warm, understated finish that complements rather than competes with the wider interior.
The centrepiece is the back-lit spirit display — a recessed panel with a mirrored back and warm LED illumination that transforms the gantry into a glowing focal point. Flanking open shelving for glassware completes the picture, keeping everything beautifully at hand.
The worktop is a full-length Calacatta marble-effect quartz slab — templated on-site to achieve a perfect fit against the cabinetry. Virtually indestructible in daily use yet refined in appearance, it sets the tone for every other material decision in the space.
Brushed brass hardware runs throughout — handles, tap fittings and lighting profiles — adding a note of warmth and quiet luxury that prevents the design from feeling cold. A discreet undermount sink with mixer tap completes the functional specification, sitting flush and unobtrusive beneath the quartz surface.
The integrated LED lighting scheme was designed as carefully as the joinery itself. Warm strip lighting beneath the upper cabinets washes the worktop in a soft glow, while plinth lighting lifts the cabinetry from the floor — a detail that makes the bar feel lighter and more considered than conventional floor-mounted joinery.
The back-lit spirit display provides the anchor point — a warm amber glow that changes character from daytime to evening, making the bar feel different at different times of day. It is this kind of considered, layered lighting that separates a great bar from a merely good one.
